I am one voice from the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, representing many thousands of indigenous voices that cannot speak English or express what is happening here to the West, they have been fighting to save the Amazon here for a long time now, their story is very much one of tragedy and will continue to unfold that way. After working for several decades in environmental conservation, I can say that the root cause of ecocide here and around the World comes from a need for change in human consciousness and how we see ourselves in relation to nature. We must stop seeing ourselves as separate from nature, the impact of what each of our daily choices and actions has on key ecosystems such as the rainforest and oceans is tremendous, what we do to nature, we do to ourselves.
