Scores of éirígí and pro-Palestinian activists descended upon the old Andersonstown Barracks site in West Belfast yesterday [Tuesday, June 16th 2015], to stand in solidarity with Palestinian Hunger Striker Khader Adnan. Speaking after the protest, Pádraic Mac Coitir, éirígí’s Belfast Chairperson, said, “Adnan commenced his current hunger strike on May 6th of this year, having previously committed to another strike lasting 66 days in December of 2011, which 10257262_795869897119758_8639250247524165001_oeventually won him his freedom. What was considered a victory in the Palestinian struggle against the ‘Administrative Detention’ process, ‘Internment’, wasn’t to last, as the Zionist regime re-arrested Adnan in January of 2012, starting his latest round of indefinite detention. There are reportedly 424 Palestinians held under administrative detention orders at present, including children – more than double the 181 held at the same time last year, with some Palestinians having been held for over five years without trial.” He…
